Magiciens de la terre (Magicians of the Earth, May 18–Aug. 28 at Centre Georges Pompidou, la Villette, Paris) is held. This historic exhibition showcases non-European tribal art on par with European and American contemporary art. It also makes the existence of Chinese avant-garde art internationally known. Huan Yongping makes his international debut and stays in France after the exhibition.
