The Salon Art Society (founded in 1935) is renamed to the Society of Chinese Artists and Tchang Ju Chie is selected for the chair while Tai In Long, Chen Puzhi, and Zhou Jinhai become members. The group consider the United Artists of Malaya to be falling into elitism.
