China Avant-Garde Exhibition (Feb. 5–19 at National Art Museum of China, Beijing) is held. It is historic for the national museum to exhibit many experimental and avant-garde works. Tang Son and Xiao Lu shoot Xiao’s work Dialogue in shape of a telephone booth. The artists are arrested, and the exhibition is suspended in five days. Shortly after the reopening of the exhibition, the museum and police receive a bomb threat. The exhibition is closed again accordingly in two days.
