French Indochina Contemporary Art Exhibition is held (Jun. 2–6 at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Department Store, Tokyo). The exhibition is organized by the Society for International Cultural Relations and supported by the Intelligence Agency of Ministry of Greater East Asia. Artists from French Indochina, including Joseph Inguimberty, To Ngoc Van, and Luong Xuan Nhi, and students from the École des Beaux-Arts de l’Indochine, Gia Dinh Fine Arts School, and Bien Hoa Fine Arts School exhibit their works. The exhibition tours to Osaka (Jun. 23–27, Shinsaibashi Daimaru), Kobe (Jul. 13–18, Sannomiya Shrine Shin Daimaru), Kyoto (Aug. 24–29, Daimaru), and Fukuoka (Sep. 19–26, Tamaya). Prince Takamatsu, the director of the Society for International Cultural Relations, buys Nguyen Van The’s lacquer folding screen.
