The First National Art Exhibition (Kokuten) is held (Nov. 21–Dec. 11 at Gyeongbokgung Museum, Seoul). This first national exhibition after the liberation is organized by the Korean government. After being interrupted by the Korean War, it resumes in 1953 and continues until the 30th exhibition in 1981.
